Gero Kompetenzenter fir den alter has written an article highlighting one of our projects to improve Quality of Life for seniors at the An de Wisen care home: pet therapy! 


In 2019, our care home in Bettembourg embarked on “Humanitude”, a program that aims to support good care and restore dignity for the elderly. 


We've always been keen to promote independent, enriching activities for seniors. That's why, since 2008, a rather original concept has appeared in Bettembourg, aimed at stimulating care based on animals and nature: Medana - Médiation Animale Nature. 

The main reason for the idea of animals was to offer people activities that bring meaning to their lives. I don't agree that residents should be painting and doing crafts like in kindergarten, even though they're adults.
